James G. Leventhal is Deputy Director for Development at the Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) in San Francisco. He has 24 years of experience of working in the arts. Before moving to the CJM in his current role as Director of Development and Deputy Director of the Museum, Leventhal spent seven years as Director of Development and Marketing for the Judah L. Magnes Museum (Berkeley, CA) where he helped the Board to raise significant funds in support of the Campaign for the Magnes and helped to formulate the gifting of the Magnes collection to the University of California, Berkeley. James also worked for eight years at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. James has presented nationally on the use of technology for audience development and engagement in museums. As a member of the Board of the Western Museums Associations Board and Programs Committee, James helped WMA launch a digital presence through its current blogsite at westmuse.org. James is also on the Board of the Museum Computer Network.
